Georgia football coach Mark Richt gets a new five year contract

Duri News - News sources Rivals.com, Associated Press and Yahoo Sports. Athens Georgia. University of Georgia (UGA) football coach Mark Richt has agreed to a new five year contract that will keep him at UGA for five more years through the 2016 college football season.

UGA athletic director Greg McCarthy said the final details of the contract are being reviewed by their lawyers.

Richt has coached at UGA for 11 years. His annual salary is $2.81 million dollars. McCarthy said the details on the contract will be made public when the document is ready.

Richt said he hopes he can end his coaching career at Georgia. In the 2011 college football season the Bulldogs went 10-4 and represented the Southeastern Conference (SEC) East division championship game that they lost to Louisiana State University (LSU).

Before joining the Miami Heat in 2010, The 27 year old basketball star played for the Cavaliers. Drafted in 2003 right out of high school, the then teenager signed a staggering $90 million contract with Nike before he even threw a ball for the team. But frustration over never snagging a championship ring pushed him to jump ship which caused a firestorm in the national basketball arena. Everyone had an opinion and LeBron was dark villain or hero depending on who you talked to.

Fans were highly upset and many forgot LeBron was a ‘virgin’ in the drafting world—where he had so far given it all only to Cleveland. But folks didn’t care about that little detail when hurling strong words like disloyal and ungrateful. Fans simply wanted their star player to stay.

I don’t blame them for the Ohio native has amassed a list of accomplishments in his 9 years playing pro. Some include 2004 Rookie of the Year; MVP for The Allstar Games 2006, 2008; 2009, 2010 MVP and 2008 Scoring Champion. Plus his lucrative endorsements and contracts have catapulted him to the top of the bankable pile, raking in over $40 million a year according to Forbes. I Guess he is trying to play catch-up with the former King of the court Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan.

He has a ways to go for MJ, the King of all endorsements, is currently worth about $500 million, even after ex-wife Juanita walked away with $168 million in the divorce.

LeBron isn't married and is thinking ahead for rumor has it he had his girlfriend Savannah Brinson sign an agreement where she would receive a couple million dollars if they ever separated in exchange for her silence. In other words--no talking to the press about their relation or airing their dirty laundry in public. Smart move. But now that they are engaged, the rules might change, who knows.

Hockey father faces criminal charges in Massachusetts

Duri News - News sources Associated Press and Fox Sports. Winthrop Massachusetts. Authorities in Massachusetts announced Tuesday Joesph Cordes 42, will be summoned to an East Boston District Court to face a charge of distrubing the peace.

Cordes is accused of pointing a laser pointer in the eyes of an opposing goal keeper at his daughter's hockey game last month during a high school hockey game.

Police said Cordes pointed the light at the goalkeeper of the Medway/Ashland team on February 29 during a hockey game in Winthrop. School officals removed Cordes from the arena.

Winthrop won the game 3-1. The parents of the Medway/Ashland high school wanted the game replayed due to the incident but the Massachusetts high school governing body denied the appeal.

Cordes has not been arrested. He told Boston television television station WBZ he humliated his daughter and he feels "like a complete jerk."

A former girls hockey coach at Wilmington High School said that his former goalkeeper of the team complained that she had a laser pointer in her eyes at a hockey game last year.

I know that winning is not the only thing but the only thing but trying to use cheating tactics in any sport is uncalled for.

AC Milan Barely Holds On To Advance To Quarterfinals

Duri News - With AC Milan already up 4-0 from their throttling of Arsenal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, everyone figured that Milan could kick back and relax for this game at the Emirates.

However, things began to get real shaky real quick after Arsenal went ahead 3-0 in the first half. Arsenal was able to get on the board early in the 7th minute on a Laurent Koscielny header off of a corner kick. The scoring didn't stop as the Gunners scored again in the 26th minute on a Tomas Rosicky kick off of an assist from Theo Walcott after Walcott made one of his patented runs down the right sideline. The third goal occurred in the 43rd minute when Milan tripped up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the penalty area. The penalty kick was buried into the goal by Robbie Van Persie.

With only one goal needed to tie with an entire half to go, AC Milan was reeling. However, Milan regained their defensive form in the second half to keep the game scoreless after the intermission. Even though Arsenal clobbered AC Milan today 3-0, Milan advances to the quarterfinals with a 4-3 winning aggregate score.

Here are the starting lineups from the match. Both teams played with the attacking 4-3-3 formation.

49ers close to new stadium in Santa Clara

Duri News - After a great deal of discussion, it seems that the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers are on the fast track to leaving Candlestick Park for greener pastures in Santa Clara and a new stadium. Reports are surfacing that the team has signed an agreement with a construction firm, and the project could be started in a couple months.

According to the Mercury News in San Jose, the construction firm, Turner-Devcon, could lose “millions” if the stadium isn’t ready for football by 2014. That is an aggressive construction schedule for a football stadium, as that’s just a little over two years. Most of the new stadiums in the NFL have taken at least three years to build.

Santa Clara mayor, Jamie Matthews told the Mercury News that, "We're going to be playing football here in 2014. I have no doubt whatsoever."

Part of the financing package includes sales of PSL’s (Personal Seat Licenses) that the 49ers will call “Stadium Builder Licenses.” The 49ers expect to generate almost $500 million from the sale of these licenses. Fans typically pay a one-time fee for the right to purchase a certain seat within the stadium. Season tickets cost extra.

The San Francisco Business Journal says that the team has already raised close to $100 million. If the team can in fact raise the $500 million amount, the Journal notes that the 49ers would generate the most revenue from the sale of PSL’s, second only to the Dallas Cowboys.

Along with financial help from the NFL, the 49ers should have the whole cost of the new stadium covered.

The 49ers seem to be itching to get out of Candlestick Park – which would explain the aggressive construction schedule. It’s similar to the situation the Minnesota Vikings are in. The team has been lobbying for a new stadium for a decade, and they seem to be getting close to a deal that could finally bring the stadium fight to an end in Minnesota.

Just like the Vikings, the 49ers have made it clear that they do not want to stay in Candlestick Park long – and seemingly would rather be in Santa Clara sooner than later. The Vikings have insisted that they have no intention of remaining in the Metrodome for a long period of time; and the Vikings have denied lease extensions in the 30-year-old stadium.

The latest Vikings plan has a new stadium being built on a parcel of land adjacent to the Metrodome, which would allow the Vikings to play there during most of the construction phase of the new stadium, which would limit the Vikings’ time at TCF Bank Stadium, home of the University of Minnesota Gophers.

Houston Texans sign RB Arian Foster to a five year contract

The Houston Texans have reached an agreement with their running back Arian Foster on a new contract that is worth $43.5 million for five years. $20.75 million dollars are guaranteed.

La Canfora said the "guaranteed" money in Foster's contract means salary that will be paid based on his skills, being injury free and capacity.

Bounty Program Story Is Way Out Of Control

Duri News - Over the past few years, the top brass in the NFL have been attempting to clean up the game of football as it looks to gain even more world-wide appeal. The league has cracked down on players hitting each other with the crown of the helmet by fining and suspending the perpetrators. The league has also begun to do more research in the area of concussions so that players will not be permanently damaged after their pro careers are over.

As the NFL continues to pull back layers of problems that have been wrong with the game for decades, they decided to uncover the bounty program. This widespread idea is done throughout the NFL as defenses look to gain an extra edge during the season.

The players would pool their money on a weekly basis. They would then award money to players who gave a clean hit and who obtained a sack or an interception. They called this bounties because it's sort of like hunting down someone after a bounty has been placed on them.

For the past week, the NFL has been targeting the bounty program ran by the New Orleans Saints under former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams over the past three years. The Saints took the bounty program to another level by also rewarding players for knocking an opposing player out of a game and for cart-offs, a situation in which an opposing player was carted off of the field due to an injury such as broken bones.

The problem now is that the NFL needs to hurry up and dole out fines and suspensions quickly because this story is totally out of control. In less than a week, stories about bounty programs have come out from players that used to be coached by Williams from these teams: New Orleans, Tennessee, Buffalo, and Washington. Federer overcame Murray and won for the fifth time ATP title in Dubai

Duri News - Roger Federer won on Saturday its fifth title in Dubai by defeating in the final British Andy Murray 7-5, 6-4 in 1 hour and 36 minutes. That way I got repeated two weeks ago in Rotterdam and reached the spectacular figure of 72 tournament wins in his career.

According to the Japanese Equestrian Federation (JEF); Hoketsu has earned a place in 2012 London Olympics by standing number one in the International Equestrian Federation's individual dressage rankings for Asia-Oceania.

Hoketsu, was also the oldest contestant at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with 67 years and 4 months of age, Hailed as the "hope of old men," He has already participated in two Olympics, 44 years apart.

The Japanese rider, based in Germany, topped the rankings after winning an event at an international dressage meeting in France on Thursday He was not available for comment straightaway.

Hoketsu finished 40th in show-jumping at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and in 2008 at Beijing he placed ninth in team dressage and 35th in individual dressage. He was also selected as a replacement for the 1984 Los Angeles Games but did not participate, and had to pull out from the 1988 Seoul Olympics when his horse had a quarantine problem.

Nadal hits back over motivation doubts

Duri News - A combative Rafa Nadal returned serve at sceptics who have questioned his motivation at the Australian Open on Sunday, saying the passion he lost toward the end of last season had returned and that he was fighting fit to take down 2011 nemesis Novak Djokovic.

Nadal won a sixth French Open title but endured a disappointing season by his own sky-high standards, losing his world number one ranking and six consecutive finals to the Serbian.

Nadal, who suffered an early exit from the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals, admitted to losing his usual passion amid struggles with a shoulder injury at the end of the season, but said the media were making too much of it.

"That's nothing crazy," he said. "That happens when you are a little bit more tired than usual. Maybe you're not doing your job all the time with the same passion because you're tired. That's part of the job."

Nadal plays American qualifier Alex Kuznetsov in the first round on Monday and said he had come to Australia "with big motivation, with big passion".

"I'm happy. I am practising well. I'm enjoying everything. I will try to be ready for tomorrow."

Rarely one to make bullish statements about his leadup form into grand slams, Nadal has little cause to do so this year after bowing out of the Qatar Open with a surprise semi-final defeat to French world number 15 Gael Monfils.

Some observers say the 25-year-old has been worked out by Djokovic, who has picked apart the Spaniard's game by pouncing on his serve and relatively weak backhand to dictate play.

Health most important

Djokovic remains heavy on Nadal's mind and he nominated the Serbian as the man blocking his way to an 11th grand slam crown.

"There are a lot of fantastic players around," he said. "Novak is the best because last year he had a fantastic year. He's the No 1 today. He deserves to be there."

Nadal said he had a couple of things he needed to work on but he was happy that he was in good shape physically.

"I am healthy. That's the first thing, the first important thing. Without that, you cannot think about other things. I am healthy and I am ready to work hard."

Nadal also indicated on Sunday he would no longer be taking a public stand in relation to players' demands over pay and the tennis calendar as he feared being misunderstood and said his voice would not help to change anything anyway.

"I'm the one who in the past talked a lot about the calendar, talked a lot about the Davis Cup, talked a lot about the problem with the US Open," the world number two told reporters.

Justin Masterson will be the Cleveland Indians opening day starter

Duri News -  Goodyear Arizona. Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta announced on Friday Justin Masterson will be his opening day starting pitcher.

The Indians will open the 2012 Major League Baseball season versus the Toronto Blue Jays on April 5 2012.

Masterson in the 2011 baseball season won 12 games, lost 10 with an earned run average of 3.21 in 33 starts.

Masterson led the Indians in wins, earned run average, starts and strikeouts. He started last year with five victories in his first five starts. His 12 wins is his career high.

Masterson said he is honored to be the opening day starter "to set the tone for the season."

Masterson beat out Ubaldo Jiminez who was accquired by the Indians from the Colorado Rockies last season before the trade deadline as was penciled as the ace pitcher of the Indians and the staring pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona who is now named Roberto Hernandez.

New York Giants football team make coaching changes Thursday

Duri News -  East Rutherford New Jersey. New York Giants football head coach Tom Coughlin announced Thursday some changes to his coaching staff.

Sean Ryan will replace Mike Sullivan as the Giants quarterback coach. Kevin M. Gilbride the son of the Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride will be will be promoted to wide receivers coach.



Mike Sullivan left the Giants to become the offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ryan will be working with quarterback Eli Manning this upcoming football season.

Gilbride has spent the last two seasons as the team's offensive quality control coach.

Coughlin will hire two more assistant coaches to fill the vacant slots for offensive quality control coach and assistant line coach. Jack Bicknell Jr., left the team to be the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line coach.
